Vicuna stand in the grasses in the Atacama Desert, known as .the driest place on earth where parts of the desert go for more than a century without recordable precipitation. The mammal is the ancestor of the alpaca thought to have been domesticated over 5000 years ago. <br />
Vicuna occupy a mystical place in the soul of Peru,  It is the country's national symbol, it's image graces the Peruvian coin. although once endangered, it has successfully comeback number 200,000.
