Cruise Ships Arrive with Tourists
![Cruise ships arrive in Ketchikan to deposit shoppers and sightseers into the rainy city for the afternoon. As many as six ships can add upwards of 9,000 people to the small town of 17,000. Jewelry stores dominate the Front Street, most of which are owned by the cruise ships. There are about 68 shops in town all vying for tourist dollars with diamonds and jewels, Most close in the winter enabling their Pakistani workers to take business south. Ketchikan was once a logging town, but has turned to tourism.](https://archives.olsonfarlow.com/img-get/I0000c4G4hbKujXE/s/780/Cruise-Ships-Arrive-with-Tourists.jpg)
