Alexander and his mother are very close. They make their home together--she cooks, washes the clothes and keeps house since her health problems have recently kept her from work. Alexander works in a fashion house for clothing and has modeled dresses when it's needed. Life for gays has been difficult in Cuba--in the 60s, they were arrested and reprogrammed. But in recent times are more relaxed attitude has emerged. Alexander is comfortable with her life as a transvestite. She was issued a government identification card as a woman
